The May evaluation period has hit Providence (NC) running back Andrew Pearman hard, including several new offers.
"I have offers from North Carolina, South Carolina, Duke, Tennessee, and Wake Forest," says the 5-foot-9, 162 pounder with blazing 4.3 speed. "Honestly, nobody has stood out. I am keeping an open mind and letting it all just set in."
Allowing everything to set in certainly is his philosophy as he is trying to visit all of his schools, including Virginia, where his brother plays.
"I want to see what they all have to present. I have to go up and talk to Coach (Al) Groh in person before they can offer. That means a lot to me. Coach Fulmer, Coach Bunting, and Coach Franks I have already met, and that helps me to really think about those schools."
Pearman, who ran for over 1600 yards rushing and 23 touchdowns as a junior, says it is his speed which sets him apart from the other prospects.
"I am fast on the track and I also play fast on the field. I am really explosive, elusive, and my vision all really help every game."
Some schools question Pearman's size and durability, but Pearman is looking past that.
"I think maybe some see potential as a defensive back, but I think if a school could put more weight on me and help me keep my speed, I can easily stay as a running back."
However, Andrew is not closed-minded.
"I am open to anything as long as I can make a difference. I mean, I would even play fullback if it would help the team."
