A-F Linebacker Drawing Serious Attention

This linebacker is receiving serious attention from the Gamecock coaching staff. The 6-2, 220-pound inside linebacker racked up 371 total tackles during his sophomore and junior seasons. He has received All-State and All-Region honors for two consecutive years. He wreaks havoc all over the field forcing opposing teams to always account for his whereabouts ...

Cortney Vincent (that is the correct spelling) of Allendale-Fairfax (S.C.) is the prototypical linebacker. He has the size and speed to excel at the next level. Vincent's leadership and determination are some of many qualities that he brings on the field. He had 178 tackles, 25 for loss, and eight sacks during his junior year. He has two goals for the upcoming season.

"My goal for myself is to become an All-American and I want to lead my team to the state championship," Vincent said.

Vincent has been receiving interest from schools all over the south including: Clemson, South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, and that just to name a few. However, only one team really stands out to Vincent. So which college is this linebacker prospect from Kenny Harney's alma mater favoring at the moment?

"I've been favoring South Carolina in a way. I have met some of the coaches and they are great. It seems like a great atmosphere," he said. "If I stay in-state I'd go to South Carolina and I do want to stay in-state," Vincent said.

When does Vincent plan to make a decision?

"It would probably be after the season …I will not commit early."

Paul Lounsberry is recruiting Vincent for the Gamecock's.

Vincent plans to attend summer football camps at South Carolina, Clemson, Georgia Southern, and possibly Louisiana State.
