Carolina Linebacker Is Receiving Major Attention

This 6-0, 235-pound linebacker is garnering attention from college recruiters all over the country. Michigan, Michigan State, Colorado, Nebraska, Virginia, South Carolina, Clemson, Georgia and Georgia Tech are a few of the major programs showing interest ...

James Simmons of Carolina High School in Greenville(S.C.) is the type of linebacker every college recruiter wants. He boasts a 370-pound bench press, a 450-pound squat, and he has a verticle jump of over 30-inches. He has the size, instincts, and intelligence to play middle linebacker, but the speed (4.65 forty time) and quickness to play on the outside. He is, however, being recruited to play the middle.

Simmons has not received any offers as of this update, but he should have his share by summer.

Simmons has two favorites and spoke to about both.

Virginia: "I really like Virginia because they have a young team."

South Carolina: "That is where my mother wants me to go to school."

So will mother have the final say so?

"She is leaving it up to me," he said.

Simmons is being recruited by Ron Parker for the Cavaliers. Todd Fitch is his recruiter for the Gamecocks.

He spoke about his busy summer schedule that is filled with top notch college football camps.

"I know I'm going to Virginia and South Carolina, but I'm thinking about going to Notre Dame, Michigan, and Louisiana State, too," Simmons said.
