With eleven offers already for Eleanor Roosevelt (MD) defensive end Derrick Harvey, people are starting to realize that he is one of the best in the nation.
"My top seven are Tennessee (offered), South Carolina (offered), Georgia, Maryland (offered), Syracuse (offered), Ohio State and LSU," says the 6-foot-5, 225 pounder. "Tennessee is number one, Maryland number two, then Georgia and South Carolina."
Consistently changing his top-tier of schools, Harvey says that staying open has not adversely affected his recruitment.
"It has been really fun, but it is getting kinda busy right now. Last night I had four schools called, but for a couple of nights nobody called and I got a break. The schools calling only makes it fun."
Many schools offered early on, and some saw Harvey for the first time at the Penn State Nike Camp and liked what they saw.
"I ran a 4.6 there, had 15 reps at 185 pounds, and ran a 4.51 pro shuttle." Not bad for a player who just finished his first season of playing football, but Harvey would like to start to focus on his senior season. Will that allow Harvey to commit early?
"I am just going to take a couple of visits when they allow me to take some officials, and then probably commit early my senior year."
