Wide Receiver Prospect Getting Hotter By The Day

The nation's fastest player caught 23 passes for 800 yards and eight touchdowns last season. The 6-3, 195 athlete also boasted a 45 yard average kick return, four of which went touchdowns. He is a threat to go the distance every time he touches the ball and The Gamecocks are after him hot and heavy ...

Xavier Carter of Palm Bay Senior in Melbourne (Fla.) is an All-American track star as well as outstanding football player. He definitely wants to run track in college and that will play a major part in his final decision.

"I'm looking at the academics, nice campus, and (their) track (team)," Carter told us late Thursday night.

Coaches from Oklahoma, Auburn, South Carolina, UCLA, Notre Dame, Penn State, Michigan, Florida, Louisiana State, and Georgia have recently taken in spring practices at Palm Bay Senior to watch Carter.

His top five, according to him and we quote, include "Miami, Louisiana State, Florida, South Carolina, and UCLA."

"I like their passing offenses," Carter added. He has heard about what South Carolina did in the spring game.

He doesn't have any problem with distance and he will make a signing day decision.

A busy track schedule didn't allow him to take in any Nike camps. He does plan to attend summer football camps at UCLA, Louisiana State, and Oklahoma.

GamecockInsider.com will keep you updated on Carter's summer camp tour.
