Gamecocks Get Super Regional!

Columbia, SC - For the 4th straight year, the USC baseball team has advanced to the NCAA Super Regional and for the third time during that four-year period, the Gamecocks will be serving as a host site. Carolina (42-20), fresh off of its 3-0 sweep at the NCAA Regional in Atlanta, will take on the North Carolina Tar Heels (42-21) in a best out of three series this weekend at Sarge Frye Field in Columbia. The winner advances to the NCAA College World Series, which begins June 13 in Omaha, Neb. ...

Game times for the upcoming Columbia Super Regional are as follows: 3:05 p.m. Friday, 12:35 p.m. Saturday, and if necessary, either 3:05 p.m. or 6:05 p.m. Sunday.

Tickets are on sale immediately today (Monday) at the USC Athletic Ticket Office on Rosewood Drive. Ticket book prices are $35 for adults and $25 for youth/children. All seats are reserved. Telephone numbers at the ticket office are 803-777-4274 or 1-4SC-FANS. Those fans who had previously ordered NCAA Tournament tickets last month in anticipation of USC hosting a Regional and/or Super Regional Tournament, should receive those tickets via priority mail by Tuesday or Wednesday. Those orders had been pre-packaged last week and in order to save time were ready to be mailed in the event USC had been chosen as a host site for a Regional and/or Super Regional. Those fans should discard the seven-game Regional ticket sheet that was included in their envelopes and only use the Super Regional tickets. Regional ticket refunds are currently being processed. All ticket orders that are received through today (Monday) will be delivered via priority mail. Ticket requests made after Monday will be held at will call at the USC Ticket Office or at Sarge Frye Field.

Carolina will be facing North Carolina for the second straight year in NCAA playoff action. In 2002, the Gamecocks went 2-1 against the Tar Heels in a Regional in Columbia, winning 9-6, losing 8-4 and then clinching the tournament with a 3-1 victory. The Gamecocks trail in the all-time series, however, 29-53-1.
