All-Region SC Product Names His Favorites

One of the finest cornerbacks in the region lives in the upstate of South Carolina. He had some interesting things to share with during a recent interview ...

This All-Region performer at cornerback is receiving major attention. The 5-foot-10, 175-pounder is receiving attention from all over the Southeast. Tennessee, South Carolina, Wake Forest, North Carolina, North Carolina State, and Clemson are showing strong interest at this point.

Lamont Williams of Rock Hill (S.C.) is an outstanding cornerback that has the knack for being in the right place at the right time. As a junior he had 86 tackles, three interceptions, and 13 pass break-ups. Williams loves to hit to the ball carrier, but is at home one on one with the opposing teams best wide out. He was a force in the Bearcats State Championship run in 2002 and plans to bring his team back this year as a cornerback and wide receiver. Williams has an impressive bench press of 265-pounds and squats an amazing 700-pounds. He was recently clocked at 4.34 seconds in the forty-yard dash. He carried a 3.0 grade point average during his junior year and plans to major in Business Management at the college he attends.

Williams compares himself to Charles Woodson of the Oakland Raiders. He is being recruited as a cornerback and that is his position of choice. Williams has a big summer planned that includes visits to two top football camps. Williams gives The Insiders the skinny on his plans.

"I am going to the Tennessee (One day.) Camp this weekend. I'm also going to U.S.C. (Three Day Camp.) the following weekend," Williams said.

"Tennessee, U.S.C., U.N.C., Georgia, AND North Carolina State with Wake Forest right behind them."

Because they are showing me the most interest and I like their stadiums (and) coaching staff's as well both have come to watch me in spring practice. North Carolina has come on strong because I just want an opportunity to play (early)," Williams said.
