Positive Vibes Coming From Ohio CB

Could play either TB or CB in college. As a sophomore, he amazingly only allowed one ball to be completed to his side of the field, but he could be a better RB on the next level ...

One of the elite cornerbacks in the Midwest is planning to give the Gamecocks a commitment before his senior season. Who is he?

Tony Howard of Garfield Heights (OH)is a shut down corner that thrives in a bump and run coverage scheme. The 6-foot-0, 190 pounder has tormented opposing offensive coordinaters for two years. Howard racked up 70 tackles, three interceptions, and 10 pass breakups as junior. As a sophomore he only allowed one completion to his side of the field. He also rushed for 1,223 yards and 16 touchdowns on offense. Howard has a bench presses 280-pounds, squats 375-pounds, and has a vertical jump of 34.5 inches.

College recruiters from Wisconsin, Boston College, South Carolina, West Virginia, Michigan State, Pittsburgh, Vanderbilt, Tennessee, and others have offered the All-District performer. One team has the lead and should be expecting a commitment in the coming months.

"South Carolina. My friend Regis (Edgerson.) goes there and I want to go there, too. I think they are probably going to do pretty sweet this year."

Howard said he was a 100-percent sure he will commit to the Gamecocks. What if Ohio State offers at their camp he's planning to attend?

"I'm still committing to South Carolina, regardless," Howard said.

South Carolina's quarterback coach, Todd Fitch, is recruiting Howard for the Gamecocks.

Howard plans to make his decision before his senior season.
