At 6-foot-1 and 225 pounds, Florence (S.C.) Wilson standout linebacker Lawrence Timmons attended the NIKE Camp at the University of Miami in April. "I really wanted to go to one," Timmons said. "It was either going to be Virginia or Miami. I don't really know anyone in Virginia so I went to Miami since I have some family there." Timmons, who has 4.56 speed and a 31-inch vertical jump, decided to return to Miami for its annual summer camp. "I just got back from Miami today," he said. "It was tight down there. The competition was good and I had fun."

Timmons lists eight scholarship offers -- "Florida, Michigan, Tennessee, Maryland, Virginia, Clemson, South Carolina, and Kentucky have offered already," he said. "Miami said they want to see how my season goes first."

Timmons talked more about why he favors the Hurricanes at this point. "They top the charts on everything," he said. "They know how to win better than anyone else. They have a good weight training program. They have good academics and they know how to get players into the NFL. Plus I had a chance to work with the linebackers coach and that was great. What's not to like about them?"
