Memphis Big Man Hearing The Call

When he leans his head east and cups his hand to his ear he can hear the Gamecocks crowing his name. So what are the chances that this top defensive tackle prospect might escape the Midsouth and land in beautiful/historic South Carolina? ...

Corey Mills of Christian Brothers High School in Memphis (TN.) is a dominating defensive line prospect. The 6-foot-5, 260-pounder racked up 71 tackles, 13 of those for loss, and added eight sacks for good measure. He is a very talented athlete that excels in Track and Field as well. He spoke about his athletic accomplishments.

"I was a finalist for Mr. Football. I was Defensive Player of the Year in my Region, and I was on the first team All-State defense. I won the state in both the shot and the discus."

Mills has a motor that never stops running. He has the speed (4.8 forty-yard dash) to chase down opposing running backs and the quickness to blow offensive lineman off the ball. Mills is receiving interest from all over the southeast and as far out as Colorado. The very humble Mills spoke about all the attention he is receiving.

"I am surprised that some big name schools have offered me. I'm just surprised by the whole thing."

Mills has been receiving interest from: Mississippi, Memphis, Tennessee, Louisiana State, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Michigan, Notre Dame, Michigan State, and that's to name a few. Memphis, Tennessee, Mississippi, South Carolina, Oklahoma State, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Auburn, Louisiana State, Louisville, Colorado, North Carolina, Mississippi State, and Florida are the colleges that extended scholarship offers at this time. Memphis, Mississippi and South Carolina are recruiting Mills the hardest.

All the colleges recruiting Mills are even at this time. When will a decision take place?

"I am going to take all of my five visits first and I am not going to make it until really late," Mills said.

Mills plans to narrow down his list by the time his senior season starts. He is looking at all the university's academics, coaching staffs, and track programs.

Mills has had a busy summer and spoke about his plans for the remainder of the summer.

"I went to the Ole Miss, Memphis (football camps), and right now I'm planning to go to Florida on July 12th."
