Rock Hill DB Talks About What Happened

Gamecock fans were primed for another commitment from one of their own last week. No prospects are more followed than the instate guys when it comes to Gamecock fans. But then something happened? And what does this have in common with Demetrius Summers and Syvelle Newton? ...

Lamont Williams of Rock Hill (SC) the All-region performer at cornerback is definitely a hot commodity as recruiting season rolls on. The 5-foot-10, 175-pounder is receiving attention from all over the Southeast. Tennessee, South Carolina, Wake Forest, North Carolina, North Carolina State, and Clemson are showing strong interest at this point.

Recently Williams couldn't wait any longer and decided he would pull the trigger on a commitment to the South Carolina. So why didn't he stick with his decision?

"Coach (Jim Ringer) advised me to wait a little to see how recruiting is going at USC and since more schools are getting involved. Right now I'm looking toward August," said Williams.

Three colleges are trying to come on strong for Williams. Have they made up enough ground to knock his forerunner the Gamecocks out of the lead?

"No, still no one is ahead of USC. I just love their coaching staff and I believe they are being honest with me. I believe I would get to play early and make an impact, but Clemson, Penn State, and Virginia Tech are trying."

Williams plans to major in business at the university of his choosing. He is a heavy lean to the Gamecocks. His parents also like the Gamecocks and would love to see him stay close to home.

TheInsiders.com will keep you posted on the status of Lamont Williams up until his big decision.
