South Carolina's Akeem Auguste and Shon Carson will be out indefinitely due to surgeries both players have received in recent days.
Auguste has been suffering from a groin injury during fall camp and has missed several days of practice time. He returned to the field this past Saturday during the scrimmage but was pulled after the first series.
Auguste, a 5-9, 188-pounder from Hollywood, Fla., underwent a procedure on Sunday afternoon after injuring the muscle in his right thigh during Saturday's scrimmage. He will be re-evaluated by Dr. Jeffery Guy in four to five weeks.
Carson has been working his way back to full health after missing nearly the entire 2011 due to knee injury.
Carson, a 5-8, 192-pounder from Scranton, S.C., underwent a surgical procedure on his left wrist this morning to repair an injury suffered in practice on Friday. The procedure was performed by Dr. John Walsh at Palmetto Hospital.
The injury to Auguste continues to hamper the cornerback depth as South Carolina recently lost freshman Rico McWilliams to a season-ending injury and Cadarious Sanders to a transfer.
Carson was battling for playing time in the crowded backfield for the Gamecocks and was in the mix for time as the third-string running back behind Marcus Lattimore and Kenny Miles.
The Gamecocks will practice on Monday night at 7:30 p.m. as they continue to get ready for next Thursday's season opener against Vanderbilt.
