Braxton Berrios interested in the Gamecocks

2014 WR Braxton Berrios may not be close to a decision but his recruitment hasn't slowed down as several schools continue to show heavy interest. South Carolina is one of those schools and Berrios is intrigued at what the Gamecocks have to offer and wants to learn more.

Braxton Berrios is off to a fast start for the 2013 season.

His team, Leesville Road, went 3-0 in non-conference play before a statement game against Enloe that resulted in a 50-20 victory. Berrios scored five touchdowns in the win, including a 39-yard touchdown before halftime to Leesville a 29-0 lead they would not relinquish.

Berrios said through the first three games that he had nearly 500 yards total and eight touchdowns. Throw in Friday's performance and he's already put up a season's worth of stats in four games.

When asked what he was working on to get better as a player, Berrios responded, "All the details, blocking and better routes."

As far as recruiting goes, Berrios said he's gotten a lot of interest since September 1st.

"A lot of schools have sent me a lot of mail since September 1st. I have offers from UNC, Duke, Wake Forest, Minnesota, ECU, Maryland, and Virginia Tech. "

One school that is showing a lot of interest is the South Carolina Gamecocks. Berrios has visited South Carolina before, attending a Showcase camp over the summer that was cut short due to weather. It didn't stop him for saying how much he enjoyed the visit.

"I loved it down there in Columbia. I really want to learn a lot more about the school."

Special teams coach Joe Robinson is handling his recruitment. Berrios said he wanted to make it to a game at Williams-Brice and visited unofficially during the UAB game.

Berrios likes the fact that South Carolina continues to improve as a program.

"They have continued to get better and better over the years and I like that a lot. They have a great program and have one of the best coaches in football."

The idea of playing for an offensive-minded coach like Steve Spurrier has to have Berrios excited however, it doesn't appear a decision will be made in the near future.

"I have no timetable necessarily. I'm graduating early my senior year so obviously a bit sooner but I'm just trying to enjoy the process right now."

The Gamecocks have yet to offer, but if Berrios keeps it up like he has, they may have to soon enough.
