Demetrius Henry is in no rush with his decision. In fact, the talented big from Florida plans to not sign in the early-signing period next month.
"I'm signing in the spring," Henry said. "I just want to focus on my season.
"There were a lot of coaches that left last year. I just want to see who stays, and I want to see if they are doing what they are talking about within their systems."
Of the schools that are recruiting the talented 2013 forward from Faith Baptist School the hardest, the list stands at South Carolina, Illinois, Rutgers, USF, Miami and Clemson.
However, none of these schools have made a statement in his mind yet.
"No one stands out," he said. "I haven't had a chance to sit down and look over the schools. Every school has an equal opportunity."
Though, each of those schools are presenting "the same opportunities" and pitches to Henry, he states that honesty is the biggest thing in the pitch. Also, Henry wants to go into a situation where minutes will be available early for him.
"Don't tell me things that just make me feel good," the four-star big said. "I want to hear how I fit in their system, and how the coaches can help me. I want to know what they like about me and what they don't like about me. Just don't beat around the bush.
"Playing time is the biggest factor. I want to have an immediate impact. I want to come and start, I don't want to be like a regular freshman."
Most of the schools mentioned have been in to see Henry, including South Carolina head coach Frank Martin and assistant Lamont Evans.
"It was good," Henry said of meeting with the Gamecocks. "They told me some things and presented the opportunity I'd have if I went to South Carolina. The relationship I have is much closer now with coach Frank Martin.
"He was just honest with me. He felt like I have a bright future if I just keep working."
Henry has yet to set up exact visit dates, but he does plan to visit a couple of schools in the next month or so.
"I don't have any (visits) set up," he said. "Most likely, I'm going to visit Illinois and Clemson in the early period though."
He's also talked to South Carolina about officially visiting Columbia, but he stated: "I just have to see when the right time is."
With a late decision expected, that leaves a lot of time for a lot of movement with schools — including new ones.
"My recruitment is going to be open until I make my final decision," he said, "but I'm going to keep in the back of my mind who was always there.
"But if a school comes in and presents an opportunity that's best for me, I'm going to take it."
Henry is currently ranked as the No. 20 power forward and No. 91 over by FOXSportsNext.
