2016 ATH grabs first two offers

It has been on his mind for a little while, when would that first offer come? Well, not only did the first one, but the first two offers came Monday for sophomore Kyle Davis...

"The offers kind of came out of nowhere," said Kyle Davis. "I got the offer from Miami first, then Illinois was next. I just did not see them coming."

After Davis found out about the Hurricane offer, he quickly got on the phone with one of their coaches.

"I talked to Coach [Hurlie] Brown and he let me know that my film really impressed him. I liked what he saw and he talked a lot about my size. My film and my size was mainly what he talked to me about and he let me know my offer is for wide receiver."

The 6-foot-3, 207 pound sophomore knows Miami produces players for the NFL and he is aware of their success over the years. He plans to research UM much more now that he has an offer.

Davis does not know much about Illinois and he has spoken directly to anyone on their staff yet.

He will be speaking with someone from Clemson soon and the Tigers have been showing a lot of interest in the Lawrenceville (Ga.) Archer star.

"I camped at Clemson last year and they have been showing a lot of interest in me," said Davis. "They invited up to visit this weekend, so I will be going there Saturday. I had a good time at their camp, so I am excited about getting back."

Auburn invited Davis to visit last weekend, but he could not make it. He also camped there last summer. The Tigers along with Georgia, Duke, and Iowa are also showing interest in the 2016 athlete.

Davis did not think March 3, 2014 was going to be a special day to him, but it quickly became one.

"I was shocked. I did not expect it to start like this and I did not expect those schools to be first to offer. It was pretty exciting for me."

Davis was offered as a wide receiver, but some may project him as an outside linebacker on the next level. He is keeping his options open right now.
