Austin Clark committed to the Gamecocks on Thursday.
"I'm real excited and pumped up right now," said the 6-foot-6, 280-pound Clark. "It feels great. I'm just really excited and I can't wait to get down there in January and start working hard."
Clark said he knew South Carolina was the place for him.
"South Carolina was the place that really made me feel like I was at home," he said. "I really like the football program and what coach (Steve) Spurrier has going on there. I just got a great feeling while and was down there and they're also a good school academically."
The Gamecocks' coaching staff played an important role in his decision.
"They were huge," Clark said. "Coach (offensive line) coach (Shawn) Elliot, (defensive line) coach (Deke) Adams and coach Spurrier – they were one of the big reasons why I chose South Carolina. They were straight shooters and just told me how it was. They were a huge part of my decision."
He is excited about playing for Spurrier.
"He's a great coach and a great guy," Clark said. "He's done a great job with the program and I can't wait to get down there and start working."
Do not expect Clark to change his mind.
"I'm 100 percent confident that I made the right decision," he said. "I'm 100 percent committed to the University of South Carolina."
