The University of South Carolina has announced a walk-on orientation meeting for the Gamecock football team on Tuesday, July 8.
The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. in the team meeting room on the second floor of the Dr. Charles Crews Football Facility, located in the south end zone of Williams-Brice Stadium, above the weight room.
Students who are interested must be enrolled at the University of South Carolina, be in good academic standing, and eligible per NCAA rules.
There have been dozens of great football players throughout history who have started out as walk-ons.
For example, Bama all-star Rashad Johnson. Yes, this safety didn't glide into Saban's program with a full-ride scholarship freshman year. Johnson aided in the success of the Crimson Tide and now plays in the NFL for the Arizona Cardinals.
Regardless of having any offers from schools or not, it's worth giving a shot! Who knows? You could be next.
The meeting is mandatory for any student wishing to be considered a candidate for a walk-on position for the 2014 season.
