Cone and Gore in CPL All-Star Baseball Game

The University of South Carolina has two baseball team members in the Coastal Plain League's All-Star game.

Two of South Carolina's own will be playing in the Coastal Plain League All-Star Game. Outfielder Gene Cone and infielder Jordan Gore will play in the 2014 All-Star game in Morehead City (N.C.) July 13-14.

Cone and Gore are members of the Florence Redwolves summer team and will be sophomores in the 2015 season.

Batting .363, Cone leads the CPL with nine doubles. He has scored 17 runs and driven in 10 as well and owns a .434 on-base percentage.

As a freshman last season at Carolina, the Columbia (S.C.)-native played in 45 games, 30 of those being starts.

Gore is hitting .297 with 12 RBI and a .384 on-base percentage as well. He is a Columbia-native, as well, and played 33 games, starting 14, as a freshman.

Both players helped lead Florence to a West Division First-Half championship and a spot at the playoffs this upcoming August.

Not only will fans be there in support, a large number of scouts will be there to watch as well. The game being played at the Morehead City Marlins home ballpark, the East All-Stars will be the home team, while the West All-Stars will serve as the visiting team.

This is the 16th year for the match-up and last year's was taken by the East in Hampton (V.A.).
