SC Sand Volleyball to Add New Signees

The University of South Carolina sand volleyball team is expected to add a new all-star to its roster.

South Carolina’s beach volleyball program is certainly a hit on campus. The program is adding Boynton Beach (Fla.)-native Macie Tendrich to its 2014 signing class.

Tendrich will join signees Chloe Cook, Carolina Goerke and Julia Mannisto as a part of the program’s first signing class.

“We are excited about the addition of Macie to the Gamecock sand volleyball program,” stated head coach Moritz.

“She brings a lot of experience, great training and a solid beach volleyball IQ. She will bring a lot of energy to the team as well as add to raising the level of competitiveness on the court, in the classroom and in the Gamecock community.”

The Saint Andrews School attendee has extensive background credentials, including third place at 2014 AAU Southern Pacific Open with fellow Gamecock signee Julia Mannisto, first place 2014 East End Volleyball U18, and 2009 Florida Region state beach champion.

This past spring stood as the inaugural season for South Carolina beach volleyball and the ladies ended with a 5-12 record. The Gamecocks were the first to add the sport in the SEC and 31st overall.

Head coach Moritz Moritz was an assistant to the indoor event, before making the transition to sand.

Last season’s entire roster is expect to return in the 2015 season.
