Tennis: SC and Michigan State Take Doubles

It takes two to tango. The University of South Carolina's Caroline Dailey paired up with Michigan States Alexandra Baer to take a doubles title on Tuesday.

South Carolina’s Caroline Dailey took a win in the doubles title at an Intercollegiate Tennis Association Summer Circuit event in Tallahassee (Fla.) on Tuesday at Florida State’s Scott Speicher Tennis Center.

The sophomore teamed up with soon-to-be freshman at Michigan State this fall, Alexandra Baer. They began the tournament with an 8-2 win over Isabel Balsavage and Shannon Bettiol.

In the semifinals, they registered as a 9-8 victory against Ali Mills and Brooke Stevens. Dailey and Baer defeated Tennessee’s Brittany Lindl and Furman’s Blair Martin 8-4 to steal the championship.

Dailey went 20-11 in singles play as a freshman for the Gamecocks and was 14-13 in doubles. She ended the season playing the No.5 singles position and was at No.3 for doubles, as well. Dailey and doubles partner Ximena Siles registered one victory over a nationally ranked team in their short time together. will keep you updated on the University of South Carolina tennis team throughout the year.
