Junior Will Starke fired a final-round 68 (-4) on Sunday at Greenville Country Club to finish tied for fifth at the 100th Carolina's Amateur Championship.
The South Carolina golfer finished off the event with a 72-hole total of 286 (-2) to finish three strokes back of first place. Chapin (S.C.)-native Starke carded rounds of 74, 70 and 74 in the first three rounds before making a move into the top 10 with his 68 on Sunday.
The championship conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association had a field of 144 golfers from North and South Carolina.
Over in Bluffton (S.C.), South Carolina junior Matt NeSmith and incoming freshman Keenan Huskey fell just short of top-20 finishes at The Players Amateur on Sunday at Berkeley Hall Club.
NeSmith finished tied for 21st with a 72-hole total of 286 (-2) after shooting a final-round 76 (+4), while Huskey tied for 24th with a total of 287 (-1), following an even-par 72 on Sunday.
