Nunez Keeping in Touch

South Carolina four-star quarterback commit Lorenzo Nunez talks about his progression over the summer and his expectations for next fall with the Gamecocks.

South Carolina commit Lorenzo Nunez is gearing up for his senior season at Harrison (Ga.) High School.

The Scout four-star prospect and No. 24-rated quarterback in the nation notes he’s been keeping in touch with Gamecocks quarterbacks coach G.A. Mangus this summer.

“We just talk about how I’m doing, when I am coming back up to visit, and just that I can’t wait to be up there with the team,” Nunez said.

A part of South Carolina’s elite class of 2015 that currently ranks No. 7 nationally, Nunez hopes to pack pounds onto his 6-foot-2, 185-pound frame before joining the team’s roster in 2015 and work on his game overall.

“This summer I’m working on my craft, getting better with my team each and every day getting stronger and faster,” he said.

Nunez committed to coach Steve Spurrier & Co. on May 8 and said his recruitment changed soon thereafter.

“Coaches don’t hit me up anymore since I’ve committed so it has calmed down, which is cool."

The Kennesaw, Ga., native plans to travel to Columbia, S.C., this fall. He noted his friends and family have been very supportive in his school choice. The QB had multiple offers from schools like Boston College, Clemson, N.C. State, Tennessee and Texas A&M.

Scout will keep you updated throughout the recruiting cycle on the second-highest rated triggerman in the Peach State and his future with the Gamecocks.
