The Gamecocks will be kicking off in only a matter of a month from today. The Texas A&M Aggies will be traveling north to Columbia to take on South Carolina and the game will stand as the first to start off the SEC Network.
With 31-days left, FB Jordan Diaz stands at no. 31 on the roster for the Gamecocks.
The Hamilton, NJ-native is a senior who missed spring action due to a left knee injury against Florida last year. In 2013, he was the backup fullback who was mainly used on special teams. 6-foot-1, 236 pound Diaz missed the majority of the season last year because of his injury.
Last season, South Carolina took a 31-17 win over the much anticipated Clemson rivalry game. That game the Gamecocks turned three of Clemson’s turnovers into touchdowns.
South Carolina’s first bowl game with head coach Steve Spurrier was in 2005 at the Independence Bowl in Shreveport against Missouri. Unfortunately, the garnet and black fell 31-38 to the Tigers. The bowl game really symbolizes the significance as a stepping stone for this Carolina program and how far they have come.
