South Carolina kicks off at Williams-Brice Stadium August 28th. Check out who stands at no. 30 on the roster.

It’s officially less than a month until kick-off for the Gamecocks. The University of South Carolina will take on Texas A&M at Williams-Brice Stadium on Thursday, Aug. 28.

Standing at no. 30 on the roster, Sidney Rhodes is a fifth-year senior and has been a contributor to special teams. The defensive back was a former walk-on who enrolled at Carolina in 2011 from Western Carolina University. 5-foot-10, 182 pound Rhodes was a multi-talented athlete at Western Carolina participating in track & field, along with football.

Last season, the Easley, S.C.-native saw action in 13 games, racked up seven tackles, and had three kick returns for 47 yards. He’s listed in the preseason depth chart as a corner, right above Jamari Smith.

On the other side of the field, tailback Darius Paulk stands 5-foot-8,193 pounds. A walk-on from North Greenville, the Columbia, S.C.-native is not eligible for the 2014 season. Last season with Greenville, he carried 32 times for 120 yards in nine games.

The season of 2011 notched Carolina’s most wins in a season in the history of the school. The year before that, the Gamecocks had been named SEC Eastern Champs.

South Carolina took a 30-13 win against Nebraska at the Capital One Bowl in Orlando to complete it’s 11-2 record and wrap up 2011.
