Davis' Injury Report from Fall Camp

University of South Carolina's TB Mike Davis wasn't in the action on the first night of fall camp, but senior WR Nick Jones certainly had high praises for the all-star.

Junior tailback Mike Davis was one of the several players not out on the field for the Gamecocks first fall camp day on Friday. Davis has been healing from a sore hamstring but is expected to be on the field again soon.

“I don’t think he’ll practice until next week some time,” said head coach Steve Spurrier.

However, the head coach didn’t seem too terribly concerned because the running back gang seemed to have really stepped up.

“Those other three backs looked awfully good. Shon Carson, Brandon Wilds and David Williams were fast, flying around. Sometimes those hamstrings linger, but we’ve got good running backs. We’re in good shape there.”

South Carolina senior Nick Jones didn’t have any clue on Davis’ injury and when he might be back, but he certainly spoke very highly of Davis at the practice.

“Always good to see a Heisman Trophy winner on the field,” noted the fifth-year wide receiver, “That’s going to help me out!”

Everyone seem to be very interested in the praise given by Davis’ fellow teammate, but the Moore, S.C.-native had a simple answer to sum it all up.

“I mean it’s Mike Davis, he’s the man!”
