Collegiate Training: D1 Behind the Scenes

D1 Sports Training has been recognized as one of the top training facilities for prospects in the entire country, both collegiate and NFL, through strengthening and conditioning in certain aspects of sports. is taking you behind the scenes of success for these collegiate athletes and prospects.

D1 Sports Training and Therapy in Greenville, S.C. has hosted a multitude of prestigious athletes throughout its reign. Co-owned by Carolina Panther WR Steve Smith, D1 offers everything from boot camps for adults to children’s classes.

Facility Coordinator Kadarron Anderson understands first hand how important it is for prospects to work certain drills to strengthen their game.

”The biggest thing with the college-prep training is that in the high schools, you have so many kids in different classes so individual athletes don’t get the focus that they need and get to work on those lifts and those certain mechanics,” Anderson said.

Albert Einstein put it best when he said, "Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it's stupid."

Everyone has a certain talent they are gifted with. In a particular sport, everyone has a position that they fit better in. So if an athlete is not working on enhancing his talent in that given position, he is not exercising his full ability to be the best he can be.

“It gives them a head start. Our goal is to emulate a Division I atmosphere. For a football player to come in here, we are going to work on the same things that they are going to work on with him at the next level, and those are usually the things that get left out in high school because of the time allotment with so many kids,” noted Anderson.

Anderson was a four-year starting linebacker at Furman University and knows what it takes to make it to the next level. The Greenwood, S.C.-native has spent time in the NFL with both the New Orleans Saints and Tennessee Titans organizations.

Also, Anderson explains it’s all about technique at D1 Sports. The S.C.-native really noted on the different drills used during the sessions that were key players in the role to a successful upcoming college career.

“The running technique, the speed agility, just working single limbs, working on your core and your balance stability, all those things that are going to be key to injury prevention.”

It’s important to note that on the field is the result of months built up of sweat, blood, and tears of hard training. D1 is a big part of that and gives players the tools they need to succeed in the recruiting process.
