Perry Orth has been making big headlines over the past couple of practices. The sophomore walk-on has impressed many of the coaching staff, including the Old Head Ball Coach himself.

Take a look at what head coach Steve Spurrier had to say about Orth and the scrimmage itself this past Saturday.

The Ponte Vedra, Fla.-native noted at media days that he was a Florida State fan growing up, but playing for a great football program, like South Carolina, is an opportunity of a lifetime.

“Growing up, you watch TV and you see the big time college programs, and South Carolina was on the rise, when we were growing up at least,” noted Orth, “and just getting the opportunity to play for someone like Coach (Steve) Spurrier has been a dream come true,” Orth stated.

In 2013, Orth enrolled at Carolina in January and joined the football team, just in time for spring practices. He spent the fall semester of 2012 at Florida State college in Jacksonville, where he did not play football.

In high school, the QB helped his team to a district title and set school records for a season and career in passing yards, completion percentage and touchdown passes. will keep you updated on Orth and his progress throughout the season.
