South Carolina Class of 2017: 'Hot 7 List'

The class of 2017 has some top-notch talent, and South Carolina has been hard on the recruiting trail. Find out who some of the Gamecocks top 2017 prospects are in the 'Top 7 Hot List'.

Running Back

-Colin Wilson, 4-star: This Green Cove Spring, Fla.-native impressed Scout’s Chad Simmons last weekend with his strong physique and older play. Only a sophomore, Wilson has been recruited by South Carolina, Clemson, North Carolina, Virginia, and others.

Wide Receiver

-Deangelo Gibbs, 4-star: With scholarship offers from schools like Florida State, Tennessee, and Georgia, Gibbs is hot on the recruiting trail. Last season, he was regarded as one of the top freshman prospects in the country on Scout.com.

Offensive Tackle

-Calvin Ashley, 4-star: Regarded as the next Martez Ivey by Scout’s Jamie Newberg, this Orlando, Fla.-native stands 6-foot-6 and all of 265 pounds. Ashley has other scholarship offers from schools like Florida State, Miami, and Auburn.

Outside Linebacker

-Nate McBride, 4-star: Another Georgia Peach on the list, McBride has been a consecutively top performer at football camps with his speed and ability to move in space. Schools like Florida, Georgia, and Georgia Tech have also extended scholarship offers.

Middle Linebacker

-Markail Benton, 4-star: Scout’s John Garcia had a lot of great things to say about this Alabama-native, noting he can play running back and could possibly be a bigger safety at the next level.

Safety

-Savalas Cann, 4-star: Brother to South Carolina’s A.J. Cann, this Palmetto State-native was highly regarded as a freshman last year by Scout’s Chad Simmons and stands with offers from Virginia Tech and the Gamecocks.

-Richard LeCounte, 4-star: Regarded as one of the top defensive backs in the state of Georgia, Scout’s Chad Simmons noted he breaks on the ball well and showed great range at the Atlanta NFTC back in March.
