Darvin Taylor II committed to Florida State this afternoon.
”I think when it came down to it, Darvin said that’s where he felt the most comfortable,” said Thomas Dale head coach Kevin Tucker. “He said it was a very hard decision between them and Virginia Tech, but that Florida State just felt right for him.”
The Seminoles are getting an unselfish player in Taylor II.
“They’re getting a team player,” Tucker said. “Darvin is a guy that’s going to do whatever you ask. I’ve asked him to really step up as an offensive lineman because we really need his help there this season. So he’s actually playing more offense than defense this year because he’s doing whatever it takes to help the team.”
According to his head coach, Taylor II is much more than just a great football player.
”He very strong academically,” Tucker said. “He’s got 3.5 or 3.6 GPA. He always encourages his teammates and supports them. He’s just an all-around good kid.”
The Thomas Dale head coach coach thinks Taylor II has the potential to become a special player at the collegiate level.
”I think the sky’s the limit for Darvin,” Tucker said. “Darvin’s only 17 years old, so only time will tell what’s going to happen when he gets in a college weight room and gets his body chiseled. He’s going to be really good.”
Taylor II is the 20th-ranked defensive tackle in the country and a member of the 2015 Scout 300.
