Blakeney commits to Louisville
For months Louisville was thought to be the leader for Orlando (Fla.) Oak Ridge standout Antonio Blakeney. On Thursday, Blakeney confirmed that and committed to Rick Pitino and his staff. “I’ve been wanting to commit,” Blakeney told Scout.com. “I knew I was going there for two months. I just wanted to see everything and compare everything. Nothing was better.” “I feel like it’s the best situation for me,” he added. “I know coach P can help me reach my full potential.” Blakeney, a five-star shooting guard, said his decision came down to Louisville, LSU and Kentucky. Louisville tracked Blakeney all of July and that factored into his decision making as well. “He didn’t miss any of my games in July,” Blakeney said of Pitino. “He didn’t miss one. That was a big thing right there.” “We are great,” he added about Pitino. “I’m so comfortable with him. I can talk about everything with him.” Louisville assistant Mike Balado was the point man on Blakeney’s recruitment. Blakeney is the fourth 2015 prospect to commit to Louisville. He joins five-star prospects Deng Adel and Donovan Mitchell, as well as top 50 recruit Raymond Spalding. With the addition of Blakeney, Louisville now currently has the top ranked recruiting class in 2015.
