Saturday’s big win over East Carolina sealed the first ‘W’ in the record books for the Gamecocks’ 2014 season and the 50th home win for head coach Steve Spurrier at South Carolina. Take a look at what the Ol' Ball Coach had to say about the scoring play on Saturday night.

1st Half Scoring Play
Warren Harvey brought in two field goals to bring East Carolina up 6-0 over the Gamecocks, until a South Carolina score was brought in by Mike Davis with a 36-yard run. South Carolina was a dead one-point ahead, with only 1:56 left in the quarter.
East Carolina’s Chris Hairston brought in a 10-yard run to take a lead once again just 13:35 into the second.
An Elliott Fry 39-yard field goal sailed South Carolina back in the game at Williams-Brice, 13-10. The Gamecocks would bring in the next two scores.
Davis, with his second touchdown of the night, had a 3-yard run to take a firm lead for USC, and a Fry field goal would bring a 20-13 score over the Pirates.
Warren Harvey narrowed the seven point deficit to a four-point gap, carrying East Carolina into halftime 20-16.

2nd Half Scoring Play
South Carolina held ECU from scoring in the third. Senior Dylan Thompson ignited the field, connecting with K.J. Brent on a 16-yard pass. Sealing off the quarter for the Gamecocks, Fry hit a 26-yard field goal to make it 30-16.
ECU’s Cam Worthy came into the fourth hot. The Palmetto State-native connected with quarterback Shane Carden on a 17-yard pass, bringing the Pirates their final score of 23 for the night.
With only 1:30 remaining in the contest, Fry hit a 20-yard field goal to take a 10-point win over East Carolina.
