Practice Recap- 9/10: "Who has the Hot Hand"

Offensive line coach Shawn Elliott will most likely start the same five who played the majority of the action last week.

“It’s not about who starts as you saw last week,” noted Elliott. “It’s about who has the hot hand. Cody (Waldrop) went in there and we scored on seven straight possessions, so I wasn’t going to change much of anything.”

Elliott was very impressed with first-time starter Alan Knott against East Carolina. “He did pretty good,” said Elliott. “His snaps were really crisp. It’s a lot easier to play the quarterback position and the running back position when you have good snaps. I thought he did fine.”

Wide receiver Pharoh Cooper did not practice on Wednesday, due to a foot injury, and his status for Saturday is uncertain.

“Obviously he didn’t practice today,” said wide receivers coach Steve Spurrier Jr., “so we’ll see.” If Cooper is not able to play, K.J. Brent and Deebo Samuel are the other options at that receiver position, according to Spurrier Jr.

As for running back Mike Davis, he is ready to go for Saturday's game.

Kick-off is set for 3:30 p.m.Saturday on CBS, and the Gamecocks will resume practice Thursday afternoon.
