Homecoming week kicked-off Saturday, October 11 at South Carolina with the theme “Under the Carolina Big Top”. Throughout the week, the University will host events to showcase school spirit.
Students can submit videos showcasing their school spirit and why they are Carolina’s number one fan. Students will be able to visit the Homecoming Facebook Page to vote for their favorite video. The winner will win a tailgating package and be announced at the game on Saturday.
The annual homecoming parade will take place on Friday, Oct. 17 at 3 p.m. Students and the community can come cheer on the procession of athletes, floats, and university members. Community members can watch the parade in front of the historic Horseshoe on Sumter Street or in front of the Russell House University Union on Greene Street.
Following the parade, the community is invited to the annual Step Show between the NPHC fraternities and sororities at USC at Colonial Life Arena. Tickets are $10 for the public and can be purchased at the Colonial LIfe Arena box office or online at www.lmctix.com.
Not only will the University be busy with Homecoming, but the South Carolina State Fair will be going on right beside Williams-Brice. The fair is in its second week and will be a hot attraction for tailgating at the noon kick-off.
Plus, there will be even more to celebrate following the game. Sunday, MC Hammer will be hosting a free show with gate admission at the Pepsi Grandstand.
