Psalms 37:4-Thompson Runs in Winning TD

Senior Dylan Thompson proved his athleticism in more ways than one on Saturday match-up in Gainesville. The Gamecocks took a 23-20 victory over the Gators at ‘The Swamp’ in overtime and the quarterback ran in for the winning TD. Check out some of the notes on the offense in the big win.

Senior quarterback Dylan Thompson went from the bottom of a dogpile to the top of the world in just a matter of seconds in Saturday’s win against Florida.

Thompson was 22-of-41 for 206 passing yards on Saturday and now has a total of 2,794 yards on the year. He is just 68 shy of Stephen Garcia’s 2,863 mark from 2009 for the fifth most in a season.

Carried off the field by his teammates, the winning touchdown was his third scoring run of the season and the eighth of his career.

Always acknowledging his faith, Thompson said he was starting to wonder why things weren’t going his way. The Gamecocks were on a four-game losing streak in the SEC, and snapped it against the Gators on Saturday.

Junior tailback Brandon Wilds had a TD of his own. His first quarter 20-yard touchdown run was his fourth TD of the season and has scored on three runs in the last two games.

Also, TB Mike Davis notched to 10th all-time in school history in career rushing. He now sits at 2,333 rushing yards in his career. Davis carried 15 times for 56 yards and is 39 yards shy of Kevin Long (1973-76) for ninth all-time in school history at 2,372.
