Presser Refresher:Baylor & Charleston Classic

Gamecock men’s basketball has an exceptionally busy week ahead of them. With Baylor tomorrow at home and the Charleston Classic in the horizon, this team has a lot on its plate. Take a look at what head coach Frank Martin and sophomore Duane Notice had to say at Monday’s press conference.

1.This is an excellent opportunity for South Carolina to showcase its talent.

Taking a win against North Florida this past week, South Carolina is off to a good start in the season.
The match-up against Baylor will appear on ESPN at noon as a part of ESPN’s College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon. It’s the second season that the two will meet on the wood. Last year, the Bears posted a 66-64 win over USC in Waco, Texas.

BU took a whopping 80-39 win over McNeese State in its season opener this past week. Newcomer Deng Deng notched 16-points, and senior point guard Kenny Chery put up five assists and two steals.

This marks the 107th season for men’s basketball and returns 11 lettermen from last season’s team. The Gamecocks return around 73 percent of their scoring from last year, as well. Now having some experience under their belts, head coach Frank Martin is excited about showing USC’s fans what this team is all about.

2. After Baylor, South Carolina will head to Charleston for another obstacle ahead.

Thursday will tip-off the Charleston Classic, and the Gamecocks will be up against Cornell for the first night and either Penn State or Charlotte to follow. This creates a whole new playing field for USC, and the ability for the team to showcase its talent.

3. It’s all about being consistent.
