Entering Williams-Brice One Last Time

All good things, must come to an end. The South Carolina football team has been busy preparing for their last home game of the season on Saturday against South Alabama.

”Who’s A.J. Cann? OH, there’s A.J. Cann!”

Spirits were high at Wednesday’s practice as offensive line coach Shawn Elliott joked with senior A.J. Cann during post-practice interviews.

”He’s a big part of it. It’s going to be special to go out there and play a big game; can’t wait to see it.”

As the season comes to a close, Saturday 22 players will take part in Senior Day and grace the field of Williams-Brice Stadium one last time. This year’s senior class has taken part in 38 wins, tying for the second-most in school history, including three bowl victories.

Also, Mike Davis, Austin Hails, Coleman Harley, Matthew Harvey and Drew Owens, will also participate despite having a year of eligibility remaining.

Davis spoke about his stance on going into the NFL Draft, and said it’ll be his brother who will deters his decision.

”He’s been a big factor in a lot of things and decisions I’ve made. So of course, him coming back his senior year and end up hurting his draft status.” said Davis.

But the season isn’t over just yet.

“We want to get bowl-eligible,” said senior quarterback Dylan Thompson. “And just have a good time doing it. South Alabama is a good team. We’ve got to come out and play hard, play fast. They play fast and we have to be ready for them. It’s going to be a good day to play. Hopefully we’ll finish strong at home. We want to give the home crowd a good show because we haven’t done that the past few times at home.”

The Gamecocks will continue their preparation Thursday on the practice fields once again.
