Gamecocks Trample Aztecs, 89-38

The South Carolina women’s basketball team drilled San Diego State 89-38 at Colonial Life Arena on Sunday afternoon to improve to a 3-0 record. The Gamecocks now look ahead to the Junkanoo Jam in the Bahamas to face Wisconsin on Thursday. Check out some of the post-game highlights of Sunday’s match-up.

Junior Tiffany Mitchell brought in 20-points as a leading scorer, and the defense forced 19 turnovers in the first half alone to close out the stunning 89-38 finish.

South Carolina forced 13 turnovers in the game’s first eight minutes, including 10 straight possessions to turn a 5-6 deficit into a 19-6 lead with just over 11 minutes to play.

Mitchell was 6-of-6 from the 3-point range, and A’ja Wilson added 15-points of her own with a team-high nine rebounds. Bianca Cuevas put her career high 11-points on the board as well and a team-high five assists and four steals.
