Key Things To Watch For In Today's Game

The Gamecocks need to find a playmaker or two today. The more the better. Someone, or more than one, on both sides of the ball will have to step forward and be willing to make plays when it counts. Let's face it, this is a warm-up game. We need to see plenty of two different acks today. YACs and SACKS!

Remember, South Carolina is supposed to manhandle the Rajin' Cajuns today. Anything less will be a disappoinment.

Kenny Irons will be the workhorse tailback today for the Gamecocks. He is #22. He should be allowed to RACK up at least 100 yards before they pull him and give Summers and Boyd many carries.

Demetris Summers is #31, Syvelle Newton is #13, Noah Whiteside is #1.

Daccus Turman has been seeing a lot of time as both the up back and the second team tailback.

Watch the Gamecock defensive ends closely - George Gause and Moe Thompson should be pressuring the La La QB on every down. If Gause hopes to meet his goal of twenty sacks this season then he needs around four (4) SACKS today.

Dondrial Pinkins does not have to be a superstar. What we should see out of Dondrial today is him moving in the pocket and finding open receivers. Pinkins has to show the ability to read defenses today - the ability to stick it out without pannicking and tucking the ball and running.

The Rajin' Cajuns have a wide receiver by the name of Freddie Stamps who is supposed to be very good. Let's see how Dunta Robinson handles Stamps today. This will be a good test for him.

The entire Gamecock secondary needs to be ready to play today because the only way La La can win this game is through the air and Ricky Bustle knows it. He will use the air attack to try to open up his ground game - that's exactly opposite of what most teams would try to do. In other words expect Louisiana Lafayette to come out slinging.

Let's see if Lou keeps his hands off of Skip's offense today. If he does then we should see a wide open offense and a lot of Gamecock points on the board.

Expect Chris Cosh to keep the defense fairly vanilla but expect Skip to open up a bit on offense to give opponents a little something extra to have to prepare for over the next couple of weeks.
