Top Linebacker Back from North Carolina

Dannell Ellerbe, one of the top linebackers in North Carolina, has an impressive offer list as his senior season gets underway. Here are his thoughts about his visit to North Carolina over the weekend and who he is strongly considering at the moment ...

LB Dannell Elerbe
6-1, 181, 4.6
Rockingham County High School
Rockingham, North Carolina

The Rockingham prospect has offers from Clemson, North Carolina, Duke, East Carolina, Nebraska, Tennessee and Michigan. Expect the offer list to grow during his senior season as he is also getting interest from North Carolina State and Wake Forest. Ellerbe is not ready to go on record with a leader or a list of favorites at this time.

Ellerbe visited North Carolina Saturday to watch the Tarheels battle Florida State. "We left at halftime. I've been up there several times before. I liked it. They had us on the field when the team was warming up for the game."

The Richmond Senior High star camped at North Carolina, East Carolina and the Nike camp this summer. Ellerbe is still working on his visit plans for the next few months.

Education and playing time will be important as Ellerbe determines where he will play college football. "I will consider education. I will also look at how early it will be before I see playing time. I will look at how many recruits they are after at my position and their current depth chart."

Coach O'Cain is recruiting Ellerbe as an outside linebacker for the Tigers. Ellerbe is looking forward to talking with the coaches again in September.

Don't expect an early commitment from the prize recruit as he plans to wait till the end of his season to make a decision. We will continue to keep you updated on this outstanding linebacker from North Carolina, right up through signing day 2004.
