New Jersey Offensive Lineman Ready To Focus

He has been one of the big name players from "up North" on many a Gamecock fan's wish list for the Class of 2004 for some time. What is he thinking now, and how far south is he willing to venture ...

Edison (N.J.) Stevens offensive lineman Jeremy Zuttah has over a dozen scholarship offers and has all of them calling him on a weekly basis.

"I'm hearing from a couple coaches every night it seems," he said. "I've talked to Rutgers, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, Maryland, Virginia Tech, Michigan State, Boston College, NC State, a bunch of them. I can't even name them all. They all offered me too."

At 6-4 and 285, Zuttah said he'll start narrowing his list down in the coming weeks. "I'll start doing that real soon," he said. "I want to have a top five by October so I know where I can take my visits. Right now, I'm wide open."

USC offensive line coach and recruiter extraordinary, David DeGuiliamo, is recruiting Zuttah for the Gamecocks. But Zuttah has some saying that he may not come as far south as Carolina and that his attention has begun to turn almost completely to northern schools - closer to home. It has many close followers of Gamecock football scratching Zuttah from their wish list.

Zuttah said he's gotten more and more interested in Rutgers lately. "They're close to home and they have a real strong business program," Zuttah pontificated. Jeremy, who scored a 1260 on his only SAT so far continued on about Rutgers, "... they're starting to turn it around it seems like."
