6-8 forward James Mays of Garner (NC) High got a visit from Clemson head coach Oliver Purnell yesterday and will visit the campus October 11th. The Tigers are considered the current favorite for his services. He has visited South Carolina and will also visit Virginia, Virginia Tech and Fordham. Mays attended the adidas ABCD camp in July and played for the North Carolina Gatos AAU team. Mays averaged nearly 20 points, 12 rebounds, three blocked shots and 3.5 assists last season. Garner finished 18-8. Mays will start for the fourth striaght season this year. He visited North Carolina State unofficially.
6-1 guard Zam "Buck" Frederick II of Saint Matthews (SC) Calhoun County will commit to Georgia Tech as expected during a Thursday omrning press conference. Frederick was the South Carolina's Class AA Player of the Year last season. He played for his father, who is a former South Carolina Gamecock standout that led the nation in scoring at USC his senior season. Fredrick visited Georgia Tech September 6 and cancelled trips to Stanford and Kentucky. Zam Fredrick averaged 32 points, eight rebounds and eight assists per game last season. His AAU teammate on the South Carolina Ravens, Ra'Sean Dickey, is also considering the Yellow Jackets. Dickey visited Georgia Tech September 20-22.
