Gamecocks Extend Offer To Running Back

He plans to camp at Duke, North Carolina, South Carolina and Clemson ...

J.C. Neal Profile

It's been almost a full month since Sumter (S.C.) Lakewood running back/cornerback J.C. Neal was sent a scholarship by a college. However, with the blitz of offers being extended to prospects throughout the nation, it was only a matter of time before the 6-foot-1 185-pounder's drought ended.

"I sent USC my tape and they liked it," stated Neal who already possessed offers from Duke, Iowa State, Maryland and Vanderbilt. "They called and told my coach and then they wrote that they offered me."

Although still open with no clear-cut favorites, Neal knows what he is looking for come decision time. His requirements list could eliminate Maryland, who is the only school recruiting Neal as a cornerback.

"Playing time is important," remarked Neal. "Location will factor because I'm trying to get away from home. Position is important, anything on offensive I have no problem playing at all."

Neal has begun to schedule an eventful summer schedule. He plans to camp at Duke, North Carolina, South Carolina and Clemson.

As a junior Neal, whose strengths include his speed (4.40-second forty-yard dash time) and vision, rushed for 937 yards on 169 attempts with nine touchdowns. Defensively Neal recorded 34 tackles and one interception.
