J.C. Neal Profile
It's been almost a full month since Sumter
(S.C.) Lakewood running back/cornerback J.C. Neal was sent a scholarship by a
college. However, with the blitz of offers being extended to prospects
throughout the nation, it was only a matter of time before the 6-foot-1
185-pounder's drought ended.
"I sent USC my tape and they liked it,"
stated Neal who already possessed offers from Duke, Iowa State, Maryland and
Vanderbilt. "They called and told my coach and then they wrote that they offered
Although still open with no clear-cut favorites, Neal knows what he
is looking for come decision time. His requirements list could eliminate
Maryland, who is the only school recruiting Neal as a cornerback.
"Playing time is important," remarked Neal. "Location will factor
because I'm trying to get away from home. Position is important, anything on
offensive I have no problem playing at all."
Neal has begun to schedule
an eventful summer schedule. He plans to camp at Duke, North Carolina, South
Carolina and Clemson.
As a junior Neal, whose strengths include his
speed (4.40-second forty-yard dash time) and vision, rushed for 937 yards on 169
attempts with nine touchdowns. Defensively Neal recorded 34 tackles and one
