Tommy Beecher Bio
(6'2, 205, 4.9)
QB, Concord High School (Concord, NC).
Tommy compiled some fairly impressive stats as junior, leading the Concord Spiders to an 11-3 record in 2003.
"I was 155-300, 2586 yards, 28 touchdowns and 7 ints," Beecher began. "71 carries for 252 yards and 4 rushing touchdowns, 1 reception for 55 yards and a receiving td, 51 punts for a total of 1727 yards punting which is an average of 33.86 yards."
When asked about his strengths he added, "I think I have a strong arm, and when necessary I can put a touch on the ball. I'm pretty athletic and people say I don't make a lot of mistakes. If there is one area that I need to work on, it's my ability to read defenses right now. That will come with experience."
So how interested in South Carolina is he?
"I'm really interested in them; I just haven't gotten a chance to see what they are all about yet," started Beecher. "I'd like to get on campus and see how everything is down there. I really like the coach and the tradition in South Carolina is like no other."
We're not sure what he meant by that, but we will find out as the coming season progresses. In the meantime Beecher received quite a bit of attention already ... "I've heard from Duke, North Carolina, Wake Forest, Clemson, Vanderbilt, Georgia, Tennessee, and South Carolina."
With no clear leader yet, Tommy does have an idea of what he is looking for in a school.
"I'm looking at their passing offenses, good academics and coaches with character are on the top of the list.'
Tommy plans on attending several one day camps this summer including: Duke, UNC, Wake Forest, Clemson and possibly Georgia.
Beecher presently has a 4.39 GPA and has scored a 1190 on his SAT and a 28 ACT.
