Relocation Brings Attention

Another two sport athlete offered by the Gamecocks and others. He is looking at schools with good basketball programs as well ...

Freddie Brown Profile

The move for Spartanburg (S.C.) Byrnes wide receiver Freddie Brown has paid off as he gained new interest from schools that are just now learning about him.

"I have three offers, from South Carolina, Kentucky, and Wake Forest. I have some new teams jumping in there, like Texas just called a couple days ago. NC State and Virginia are still in there," says the 6-foot-4, 200 pounder. "I gained a lot (more attention) actually, because Kentucky had never heard of me before I came down here. It helped me more than it hurt me."

Brown's first love was basketball, and he may be able to play both sports in college.

"I'm still talking about doing both sports right now. I'm not sure if I definitely will, but it is something I can think about."

Kentucky has mentioned the ability to do just that, and Brown was excited about that opportunity.

"I talked to Tubby a little bit, not a whole lot. The understanding is that I have an opportunity to play basketball for them, but we still have to talk about it more. I need to decide where I want to go first and then about it with that basketball coach. if they will give me an opportunity."

Brown is trying to remain as open as possible about his future destination.

"I don't know yet where I want to go, I'm undecided. I like them all right now."
