Columbia Running Back Beginning To Focus

Columbia (S.C.) running back Mike Davis is working hard to narrow his list of schools. Each weekend, he gets together with his family and Columbia head coach Kemper Amick to try and narrow the list of schools. With the fall sports season, the time available to think recruiting is starting to dwindle ...

"I'm playing soccer this year along with football," says the 5-foot-10, 210 pounder. "If I can, I would like to either play baseball or soccer in college."

Davis would like to play those along with football, in which he is a decent player. Currently rated as a four star prospect by, he has not talked about playing two sports in college with the coaches, saying "I'm just going to surprise them when I get there."

Obviously there could be a little trouble trying to play both football and soccer as they both take place during the same season, but it is that type of personality to help as many teams as possible that coaches love.

In recruiting, he is trying to keep as many teams possible on his list, which has grown to fifteen offers but twenty-one schools still in the running.

"I'm talking to a school about visits, but I didn't know you have to ask them for official visits. So when they call in September I am going to ask them."

Mike Davis will also take in several key matchups this year for unofficial visits.

"I took some unofficial visits already. I went to Clemson for one of their games last year. I'll probably take one to most all of the local schools. I'm going to try to go to one of Clemson's big games, like against Maryland or NC State. With South Carolina, I am going to try to go to the Clemson/South Carolina game."

He will also try to schedule his trips to see more than one of the schools he likes play each weekend.

"I would like to do that, because most of the schools that want me are ACC or SEC schools, so they will probably play each other and I can see both of them play."
