Dave Odom and his South Carolina Gamecocks have landed themselves what could be an important recruit. Given Odom's track record for developing big men, you can see why slender 6-foot-8 forward Dominique Archie would be intrigued.
Archie committed to the Gamecocks this week. He's a young man with a huge upside. A pogo-stick athlete, Archie is a young senior. He'll work hard inside and gets on the glass. There's a ton of room to grow in his 195-pound body.
Archie, who will take his official visit this weekend to South Carolina, said that the Gamecocks showed him more attention than anyone else.
"They recruited me harder than anybody else," Archie said. "Every time they called they got. I liked the coaching staff. I went down there and just liked their staff."
The Augusta (Ga.) Josey prospect goes to high school right on the border of Georgia and South Carolina. He says that he'll improve because he takes the game seriously. "I work harder than most people. I shoot about 500 or 600 jumpshots a day, Monday thru Thursday."
