o South Carolina and Clemson will meet for the 102nd time this Saturday at Clemson's Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for 12 noon with Jefferson Pilot Sports televising.
o Here are some comments from Lou Holtz's teleconference on Sunday: "Looking at the Florida game, number one, let's give them credit. They played a great game. This was not the same Florida team we saw on film. We played pretty well until the middle of the second quarter. Then the interception and the punt block and they got on a roll. Defensively, we played the run pretty well. But, for the fourth time here of late, we gave up way too many big plays on defense. The same things that happened against Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Arkansas came back to hurt us again. And, that's too many big plays. We couldn't be the kind of passing team we needed to be Saturday when Troy Williamson went out with the injury. Dondrial (Pinkins) is supposed to do some light throwing Monday night at practice, but we'll have to see how that progresses. Syvelle (Newton) did not have a fair opportunity against Florida. We didn't protect the passer very well. Syvelle played hard, he just didn't have a whole lot of time to plant and throw. Looking ahead to Clemson. We can't change what happened last year. I would hope our players would take it personally as a challenge. I know it was hard to look in the mirror. I punished myself over that game. More than anyone else could punish me. We're well aware of what happened last year. Do we remember? Absolutely. I don't think you can look at revenge as a factor in a game. I really never have. We're going to work every possible moment this week and prepare for Clemson. That's what is relevant right now. I would like to see this game (Carolina-Clemson) move to Thanksgiving week. It would allow it to be on national television and would give both teams longer to prepare. "
o A reminder about Coach Lou Holtz's weekly press conference Monday, 11/15, at 12 noon in the Lettermen's Lounge of Williams-Brice Stadium.
