South Carolina Baseball Hosts Brown University

Columbia, S.C. - The South Carolina baseball team returns to action on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. as the Gameocks host Brown University at Sarge Frye Field. Tuesday's game is the first of five this week for Carolina. USC will travel to The Citadel on Wednesday night before hosting Georgia in a three-game SEC series beginning on Friday night. WEEKLY NOTES:
South Carolina went 2-2 in the previous week with a home victory in non-conference play vs. Davidson and one win in a three-game series at Florida ... South Carolina senior right-hander Aaron Rawl improved to 5-2 on the year with a win in Friday's 2-0 victory over the Gators.

In the win, Rawl earned his 31st career victory as a Gamecock moving into a tie for fifth place on the USC All-Time Wins List ... Rawl hurled seven innings of shutout ball allowing no runs on five hits with a season-high nine strikeouts vs. the Gators ... Rawl also moved into ninth place on the USC All-Time Innings Pitched List ... Rawl has pitched 296 1/3 innings in his career at South Carolina ... Carolina's 2-0 victory at Florida marked the first time since 1999 that the Gators were held scoreless at McKethan Stadium.

Senior RHP Jason Fletcher worked the final two innings of Friday's game to earn his second save of the season and his fourth of the career.

USC senior RHP Zac McCamie lost his first career victory as a member of the USC baseball team in Saturday's 7-3 loss ... McCamie is now 5-1 on the season and 12-1 in his career at Carolina ... McCamie struck out a season-high nine batters in Saturday's loss working five 2/3 innings allowing four runs, three earned on six hits.

In the first six conference games of the year the Carolina pitching staff has struck out 61 batters in 52 innings pitched including 16 apiece from both Rawl and McCamie.

Junior INF Chris Brown currently owns a seven-game hitting streak and is batting .361 on the year with an on-base percentage of .467 ... Junior OF Michael Campbell has a season-long six-game hitting streak and is second on the team in hitting with a .363 batting average as well as a team-high 12 multi-hit games.

Carolina will meet up with Brown University on Tuesday evening for the second time in school history ... USC won the previous meeting on April 3, 1967 with a 7-3 victory over the Bears ... Carolina renews its series with the Citadel on Wednesday night at Joe Riley Park in Charleston, S.C. ... The Gamecocks lead the series vs. the Bulldogs 110-43-1 including three wins in the 2004 season, one of which was a 12-4 victory in the 2004 Columbia Regional ... Carolina welcomes the Georgia Bulldogs to Sarge Frye Field this weekend in the third conference series of the SEC Season ... USC leads the all-time series vs. Georgia 43-36 including the last four series played in Columbia (1996, 1998, 2000, 2003) ... Carolina swept the Bulldogs in 2000 and 2003 and won two of three games in both 1996 and 1998 ... USC is 12-4 in the last 16 meetings with Georgia.
