Byron Isom Profile
Byron Isom is a big defensive lineman for a powerful Lovejoy Wildcat team. His Wildcats blew out Mt. Zion-Jonesboro in their first game of the season, and Isom spent most of the game having to chase down plays from the backside as the Bulldogs constantly ran away from his side. This led to a huge game from teammate Dale Gibson.
Isom didn't need a big game to get noticed on Thursday night; he has two dozen scholarship offers already.
"I have about 24 offers right now," said Isom. "Illinois was the last school to offer me. I didn't get to any camps this summer, but I did go to Maryland for an unofficial visit in July. I've been keeping in touch with Coach Nix at South Carolina, Coach Washington at Tennessee, and Coach Nall at Auburn."
Isom has set up one official visit, and he knows of at least two more that he will be seeing this fall.
"Me and Coach Nix set up my official visit to South Carolina for September 17th when they play Alabama. Also Coach Nix told me that Coach Spurrier would be calling me in September before I visit. I've also set up a visit with Auburn; I just can't remember the date right now. Me and Mario (teammate Mario Fannin) will be taking that visit together. I'll also be setting up a visit to Florida the next time I talk with their coaches."
Isom might not need to take all of his visits.
"If everything goes well on my South Carolina visit, there's a possibility I won't need any more visits. I would probably go ahead and commit. South Carolina is my leader followed by Auburn and Florida."
Isom had four tackles with two for loss on Thursday night, and they are preparing for a solid North Clayton team this week.
While Lovejoy expects to have a long season that stretched deep into the State Playoffs, Isom's recruiting season could come to an end as early as next month.
