USC-Clemson Move Game To Thanksgiving Weekend

The University of South Carolina and Clemson University have agreed on a four-year deal to renew their annual rivalry on the Saturday after Thanksgiving beginning in 2006, it was announced today ...

The teams are scheduled to play on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006 and again on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008 at Clemson's Memorial Stadium, and will meet on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007 and Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009 in Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia. This year's meeting will remain on Saturday, Nov. 19 in Columbia.

"This move was predicated on the addition of the 12th game to the schedule," said USC Athletics Director Eric Hyman. "Both schools agreed it was best to play the rivalry game on the final weekend to conclude the regular season."

South Carolina and Clemson have faced each other 102 times on the gridiron in a series that dates back to 1896, and have met every year since 1909. The instate rivals have played on the final Saturday every year since 1991 and on the third Saturday of November for the past 20 years. The Tigers lead the all-time series by a 62-36-4 margin, including a 47-29-3 advantage in Columbia and a 15-7-1 edge in Clemson. Clemson has won seven of the last eight meetings between the two schools, including a 29-7 victory in Clemson last season.
